Morals and ethics.

Morals and ethics.  There isn’t much difference between the two.  In the dictionary each definition mentions the other. Finding either in most politicians is like finding gold dust in your underpants: Not likely! They are proving it in the Kavanaugh hearings.  The number one fact is that the only reason for the whole charade is to block Kavanaugh from the Supreme Court, and by extension, block Trump.  Some are worried about Roe vs. Wade.  I don’t even think anyone on the Supreme Court is intent on overturning that decision.  They aren’t looking to see if BK is a suitable candidate for the Supreme Court.  I’m sure that Feinstein, and the rest don’t give a rat’s rear end about Ford, Kavanaugh or their families.  How many of these people could stand the kind of checks he has endured.  Between Feinstein’s and her husband’s Chinese connections, Blumenthal’s “Vietnam service”, the congressional slush fund to pay off those who make misconduct allegations against them and on and on.  I doubt many of them could pass even one.

I have often said most of these people are the skid marks on the shorts of our country.  Most of them have skeletons in their closets to hide.  You have people in Congress that have been accused of and or have been convicted of felonies. Show me a politician that doesn’t lie and I’ll show you a politician who never held office.

How is it that most of these people have never held a job outside of government.  Not the way the founders envisioned it.  The next question is how is it so many of them are rich.  Not rich like I can afford a new car rich but rich like I can afford a new car dealership rich.  Here’s a list of the members of Congress and their net worth.

Some of them actually earned their money, while others inherited it but the majority of them accumulated their money while “servicing” their country.  Notice that there are plenty of them in both parties with more money than they ever could have made in government. Politics – from Poly as in many and tics – as in blood sucking insects. Some have made their fortunes from insider trading and crooked land deals while others have had “donations” from well-meaning lobbyists.  Who, by the way, had nothing to gain if their guy got elected. Wink wink nod nod.

I’m sure that Trump has cut a few corners in deals in his life.  He certainly has been a womanizer.  Don’t forget Kennedy, Johnson and Clinton who were all doing the nasty while they were in office and in the office.  Eisenhower is said to have had a mistress as well.  (It isn’t all demoncRATS!)  My point is that none of them are perfect.  Some, far less perfect than most.  The problem is that some of them are corrupt, not just immoral and not just unethical.

Thanks to Ray for this one.

Chuck Schumer was visiting a Washington D.C. primary school and the class was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked Mr Schumer if he would like to lead the discussion on the word ‘Tragedy’.
So Mr Schumer asked the class for an example of a ‘Tragedy’.

A little boy stood up and offered: ‘If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing’ in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy.’

‘Incorrect,’ said Schumer. ‘That would be an accident.’

A little girl raised her hand: ‘If a school bus carrying fifty children drove over a cliff, killing everybody inside, that would be a tragedy.’

‘I’m afraid not’, explained Schumer, ‘that’s what we would refer to as a great loss’.

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Schumer searched the room.

‘Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?’

Finally, at the back of the room, little Johnny raised his hand and said: ‘If a plane carrying you and Mrs. Pelosi and The Obama’s and Mrs. Clinton was struck by a ‘friendly fire’ missile & blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy.’

‘Fantastic’ exclaimed Schumer, ‘and can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?’

‘Well’, said Johnny, ‘it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss, and it probably wouldn’t be an accident either!’
