Raising Taxes is B.S.!

OK numb nuts.(you know who you are.) The federal government is spending about 3.6 trillion dollars this year. Just so you know, that is $3,600,000,000,000. They’re taking in around 2.2 trillion dollars. That’s $2,200,000,000,000 leaving about 1.4 trillion dollars in deficits. The extra taxes they intend collect on those making $250,000 or more a year amounts to about 40 billion dollars the first year.

I received this exercise in a forwarded email once but it was a while ago and the numbers were smaller. Sorry I can’t attribute it properly. The purpose of this exercise is to show how stupid raising taxes is and that our problems are rooted in spending, not revenue.

Let’s change this into a family problem. We will just take eight zeros off the numbers. You make $22,000 a year but you are spending $36,000 a year. This means that you are either dipping into savings or borrowing $14,000 a year. You decide that you will work overtime (raise taxes) enough to make an extra $400 a year. (Remember, take off eight zeros.)

OK, Now if there is no more more deficit spending after the first year, (FAT CHANCE!) at $400 a year it would take 35 years to pay off the first year’s debt. So what good does it do to raise taxes? None! This is just a ploy to cause class warfare and make it look like the Republicans only want to help the rich. One of these days I’ll explain to you how lowering taxes actually increases revenue.

The largest unintended consequence is that people will do what they can to avoid taxes; either hide income or move away. Therefore next year you will have less “rich” tax payers and you know full well that the government won’t cut spending. Sooo - - if you don’t change your spending habits you will just go deeper into debt AND raise the taxes on lower and lower income people.

As much as I would love to be able to place blame solely on, say oh, the DemocRATS, I can’t. The R.I.N.Os are no better. They certainly aren’t anything near conservative. The entire Congress needs to take the Hillsdale Constitution courses because they have been ignoring the document for several years.(at least) For one thing our entitlement programs are out of control. They need reformation. Next, public service unions MUST GO! We can never recover when we pay public sector retirees more than most private sector employees make before the retire.

Maybe on another journey into rant city we can tour the government departments that need to be shrunken or done away with altogether.

Two lawyers walking down the street when they see a beautiful woman. Lawyer says to number two, “I’d sure like to screw her!” Lawyer number two asks, “Yeah, outta what?”

Yep, no doubt about it. Nuts are NUTS! Adam Lanza was crazy. (I know, it’s not a scientific analysis.) His family knew it, his friends knew it. Regardless of any other factors no sane person walks into a building and kills 27 people, most of whom I doubt he even knew. I’m going to write some facts, many of which I’m sure you know but maybe it can help me understand what reason there can be for disarming me and other legal gun owners.

First of all it has been borne out that EVERY SINGLE city in the US that is in a state that issues concealed weapons permits has lower gun crime rates than EVERY SINGLE city in the country that bans guns. That should be enough for any thinking person. But Noooooo! Some politicians and some liberals (many in the MMM) think that a problem like this can be solved by banning guns. Another interesting fact that almost every place where killings of 3 or more people by gun have occurred in places where guns are banned. Smart killers! One example I’ve heard cited is the Colorado theater killings. There were seven theaters showing the Batman movie that supposedly inspired this particular nut bag near his apartment. Did he choose the biggest one? No. Did he choose the closest one? No. The one he chose was the only one that has signs specifically forbidding guns inside. Smart shooter. This particular shooter didn’t stop till the cops came then he fled and was arrested behind the theater.

Some stats:
Cities with the highest gun crime rate: New York, Chicago. Strictest gun laws in the country!
City with the lowest gun crime rate: Kennesaw, GA. Every household is required to own at least 1 gun.
Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year, or 6,849 per day.
* Gary Kleck, Criminologist, Florida State Univ.
Often the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminals) is shed.
Every day, 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes per day are prevented just by showing a handgun. In less than 0.9% of the time is the gun ever actually ever fired.
* Gary Kleck, Criminologist, Florida State Univ.
Every year, people in the United States use a gun to defend themselves against criminals an estimated 2,500,000 times- more than 6,500 people a day, or once every 13 seconds.
* Fall 1995, Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology
This means that, each year, firearms are used 65 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.
Of the 250,000,000 annual self-defense cases using guns, more than 7.7% are by women defending themselves against sexual abuse.
* U.S. Dept. of Justice, Law Enforcement Assistance Administration,

MYTH: Concealed Carry Laws Increase Crime
FACT: When citizens are allowed to carry concealed weapons:
* Murder rates drop 8%
* Rape rates fall 5%
* Aggravated assaults drop 7%
More to the point, crime is significantly higher in states without right-to-carry laws.

TYPE OF CRIME HOW MUCH HIGHER IN RESTRICTIVE STATES (states without Concealed carry laws)
Violent Crime ……………………81% higher
Murder ………………………….. 86% higher
Rape …………………………… 25% higher
Assault…………………………… 82% higher
Robbery………………………….. 105% higher
Auto Theft……………………….. 60% higher
* John Lott, David Mustard: This study involved county level crime statistics from all 3,054 counties in the U.S. from 1977 through 1992. During this time, ten states adopted right-to-carry laws. It is estimated that if all states had adopted right-to-carry laws, in 1992 the U.S. would have avoided 1,400 murders, 4,200 rapes, 12,000 robberies, 60,000 aggravated assaults- and would have saved over $5,000,000,000 in victim expenses.

Please read John Lott’s book, More Guns, Less Crime. It is well researched and has the facts to back up the title!
Anyway, If Adam Lanza was determined to kill those he killed; he would have done so even if he couldn’t have found a gun. Remember the largest massacre of school children was the Bath school in Bath Township, MI where Andrew Kehow used explosives. He killed 38 children, 6 adults and injured 58.
You can go to John Lotts web page where there many more statistics and facts about gun ownership.

Sometimes you need more than 140 characters.

OK, sometimes it takes more than 140 characters to get your point across. This is one of those times. I need someone to explain to me how a debt limit debate can be so misconstrued and the Republican point of view so misstated. To start with there is nobody in the media, Fox included, has explained what the argument really is. “The fiscal cliff!” is the first part of a pile of doggie doo trap that the Republicans fell into during the last debt ceiling negotiation. Rather than actually fight for their principles they agreed to, as they say, kick the can down the road. Here we are further on down the road. (Apologies to Joe Medwick)

I don’t know if the Republicans were blindly optimistic or just plain stupid. Optimistic, thinking BO would be out of office or just plain stupid. In essence, they agreed that if they couldn’t agree to a new debt ceiling raise this month then a bunch of bad things would happen. Two that I can think of off the top of my head are: 1-The tax rates would be increased to pre Bush rates, 2- There would be about 500 billion dollar cut to the military. There are more things but these are a couple of the biggest.

We have a handicap in the negotiation called John Boehner. Wait, before I deal with cry baby Johnny lets talk about the whole scene the Demoncrats have so masterfully set. If the GOP votes not to raise the ceiling, then spending must be stopped or cut enough to keep from borrowing any more money. What I just said is very important. I didn’t say the government will shut down or grandma won’t get her Social Security check and so on. The Demoncrats have lied profusely about what will happen if we don’t raise the limit. Pick up any POS newspaper and they will mischaracterize the facts. Watch any MSM TV ‘news’ show and you will hear how the GOP only cares about saving tax cuts for the rich. You know that has to be a load of cockatoo crap. If they hold to their principles taxes will go up for everyone. Oh, sorry too late. (ObamaCare)  Some of them are following Boner’s lead and offering 800 billion in tax increases and reduction of deductions. WTF? After all that’s what BO said would do it…. Right up to the point he said, no I need 1.6 trillion. (In case you are not following, BO doesn’t want a deal!) After all, with no deal he will get what he wants. (Reduced military, higher taxes, and best of all, he and the MMM can make the Republicans look like turds.)

  The BO regime is trying to make whatever happens be the Republicans fault and BO the hero. If we don’t pass the raise then taxes will rise for everyone and of course the Republicans will be the cause. Later BO will restore the previous rates for the lower tax brackets to their current rate and call it a tax cut! Once again, WTF?? If we pass the Debt ceiling raise, then the MMM (Malignant, Mendacious Media) will trumpet the heroic actions of BO for saving the government from shutting down. (Which it would not actually do!) (Can you remember 1995?)

The truth is that we have a spending problem. We are spending more and more. (about 11 billion a day and rising) Some people say that we spend too much on the military. Hmmm, ever see the play Pippin? Pippin is a prince whose father dies. He decides to do all the things liberals say are needed. Free housing, no army, free healthcare, no taxes for the masses, etc. etc.. Not hard to figure the country goes broke, gets invaded by other countries and generally turns to caca. Luckily his father comes back from the dead and saves the day. How much do we cut defense? First of all defense is about 18% of our budget while entitlements take up over 60%. Hmmm, so exactly what needs fixing?
SO yeah, I guess I need another 140,000 characters to understand how BO ends up being the good guy!

I was in New Orleans about 40 years ago and saw a sign advertising Antonio the Amazing Italian. I assumed it was a magic show so I went. The announcer introduced Antonio and he came on stage wearing a bathrobe accompanied by a pretty young assistant pushing a small table with 3 walnuts on it.
He proceeded to open his robe and there was the largest example of manhood I’ve ever heard of! He then proceeded to hit the walnuts with his manhood and crushed them to pieces. Then he walked off stage and that was that.
35 years later I’m in Pittsburg and there was a brochure advertising Antonio the Amazing Italian. I told my friends about what I had seen some 35 years earlier and they all wanted to go see Antonio.
We went and sure enough he is announced and here he is with his assistant and her table. Except this time there are three coconuts on the table. He does the same thing. Bang, bang, bang he crushes the coconuts.
I made my way back stage and asked him why he changed to coconuts.
Antonio replied, well you know as I get older my eyesight isn’t so good
